The Chamber's
Infrastructure Project Team hold a variety of responsibilities
representing the entire Chamber membership. One of its primary
objectives is to lobby on behalf of all members to ensure that
Sligo has suitable infrastructure and industry to effectively
sustain the members needs, in terms of roads, all modes of transportation,
energy options, telecommunications infrastructure and the attraction
of new greenfield manufacturing and international service industry.
Like other working groups within the Chamber movement, this
project team is committed to working with all bodies, all local,
regional, national and government authorities, where necessary,
to ensure that Sligo has the appropriate infrastructure to sustain
current needs and to facilitate its future growth in a positive
and constructive manner.
Issues which are to the forefront of the project teams lobby
campaign at the moment are: |
- Speedy completion of the inner relief road
- Upgrade of the N4 (Sligo-Dublin) to motorway/enhanced Dual carrageway standard.
- Extension of the Gas National Grid to Sligo.
- Develop a waste management strategy
- Lobby for the upgrading of rail rolling stock on Sligo Dublin rail line
- Lobbying to secure new greenfield international manufacturing and service industry.
- Lobbying for the planning of an outer ring road for Sligo.
- Lobby for improved telecommunications broadband infrastructure.
