Sligo Chamber annually presents businesses with The Business Person of the Year Award and The Best Christmas Display Award. 

The Business Person of the Year Award is Sligo Chamber's salute to a business person who made a significant contribution to Sligo's economic development in the previous year. The Business Person of the Year winner is decided by a majority vote by members of Sligo Chamber. The winner is announced prior to the Sligo Chamber Annual Dinner Dance and the award is presented on the night of the Annual Dinner.

The Best Christmas Display Award is organised by Sligo Chamber and kindly sponsored by AIB. Sligo Chamber and AIB seek to recognise the efforts of all businesses in decorating their premises for Christmas, by awarding the two best displays with vouchers worth €150 each.  The displays are judged on originality, theme, use of products, attention to detail and the efforts involved. The winner is announced on the week before Christmas.

Business Person of the Year 2008

Sligo Chamber presented the 2008 Business Person Award to Mr. Seamus Farrell, Managing Director of S.F. Engineering at their Annual Dinner Dance on Friday 16^th October 2009 in The Radisson SAS Hotel & Spa.  The Business Person of the Year Award is Sligo Chamber's salute to a business person for their contribution to Sligo's economic development in 2008.

SF Engineering, which Seamus Farrell started in 1982, provide customised process and packaging solutions to the majority of blue chip food companies in Ireland & Europe.  SF is the biggest privately owned solutions provider in Ireland and the UK. SF has a significant presence in Ireland, with state of the art factory & headquarters in Grange, Co Sligo and a second manufacturing plant in Cambridge, UK.  SF employs some 70 personnel across the 2 factories & resources include full design & project management along with manufacturing capacity in Ireland & the UK.
